Evacuees Moved To Local Motels

Evacuees who are still unable to access their homes after Police locked down much of the Napier Hill after this morning's shootings are now being relocated to local motels.

A group of 13 people have already left the Welfare Centre at Napier Intermediate School, in Jull Street, and approximately 40 more are soon to follow.

Civil Defence Manager, Angela Reade, says all evacuees' welfare requirements will be catered for, including meals.

"Evacuees must have registered at the Welfare Centre prior to being re-housed in the supporting hotels and motels," Angela says.

The area cordoned off on and around Napier Hill has been reduced, however, specifics are still to be confirmed by Police.
