A Helping Hand With Funding

 
Clubs and community groups constantly scrambling to find money for everyday operations are being offered help to develop a sustainable funding plan by the Christchurch City Council.

The Council is offering two sustainable funding workshops next month - the first being an “evening express workshop” and the other a day-long workshop (already fully subscribed).

The workshops are designed to help community organisations examine their income streams, relationships with sponsors and community funders, increase income, generate new funds and develop a sustainable funding plan.

“This information is relevant for so many sports clubs, community groups and organisations and the Council is really pleased to be able to make the workshops available so that many groups can get benefit from them,” says Michael Aitken, General Manager of Community Services. 

“This is an important way for us to help strengthen the community we all live and take part in.”

The workshops will be facilitated by Kerri Tilby, a not for profit sector veteran who publishes “The Seriously Good Guide to Fundraising” - which is distributed free to community groups nationwide.

The evening workshop will be held from 5.30-8pm on Wednesday 18 November at the Horticultural Centre, South Hagley Park, 57 Riccarton Avenue.  The cost of attending is $25 for voluntary organisations/individuals or $35 for Government agencies or business organisations.

The Council also offers Get Set Go! and Spread the Word! - two essential courses for organisers of community recreation programmes and events. Workshops are three and a half hours long and cost $30 for voluntary organisations or $50 for business or government organisations.
