Appeal for witnesses to fatal accident in Brooklyn
Title: Appeal for witnesses to fatal accident in Brooklyn, Wellington
Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident involving a suburban bus in Brooklyn, Wellington this morning.
Details of passengers who remained at the scene were taken, but Police say there may be other witnesses who have yet to be spoken with.
"There may be bus passengers who left before speaking with Police and also passersby who saw what happened - those people may have important information and we'd like to hear from them," said Wellington Traffic Safety Group Sergeant, Simon Paterson.
A 42 year old Asian female had been jogging downhill on Brooklyn Road near Washington Avenue prior to the accident. She was taken to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.
Attending Police arranged for Victim Support for passengers and members of the public at the scene.
Sergeant Paterson says it is too early to ascertain how the accident occurred but enquiries are continuing.
The female's name will not been released at this time as next of kin in New Zealand are still being notified. People with information about this accident are asked to call Sergeant Paterson at Wellington Police on 381 2000.
