Celebrate with Auckland’s biggest Christmas party

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
7 December, 2009

Celebrate with the stars at Auckland’s biggest Christmas party!

It’s billed as the happiest night of the year but the word is out that Saturday night’s Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park at the Auckland Domain will be the biggest, brightest, most impressive musical extravaganza to ever hit the big stage.

And a big stage it is! In fact the new Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park stage is twice as big, flanked by two giant super screens and offers concert goers a 180 deg view of a show that is sure to have the 200,000 plus audience singing, dancing and calling for more!

In addition to the brand new stage, spectacular new lighting effects, and a bigger, brighter Christmas tree, the crowd can expect Santa to arrive in spectacular style (accompanied by no less than 55 helpers!) and he’ll be joined on stage by some of New Zealand’s favourite singers, dancers, musicians and television personalities.

The star-studded event will be hosted by TV3’s Mike McRoberts and Petra Bagust and will feature Midnight Youth, Dane Rumble, Vince Harder, Drew Neemia, Ainslie Allen, Frankie Stevens, The Lady Killers, Phil Madsen, kid’s favourites the Funky Monkeys, EVE, dancing sensations Nerida Cortese and Aaron Gilmore, and of course Stig Eldred as Santa! They’ll be joined by The Coca-Cola Orchestra, M.A.G.S Fusion Chorus, world champion Hip Hop dancers ReQuest and the Diamond Dancers.

Show producer Kate Ward Smythe who has been with the iconic event since 1994 is enthusiastic about this year’s show, “The new stage and lighting effects provide a stunning backdrop for one of the most exciting talent-packed shows we’ve ever presented. Auckland can expect an evening of non-stop entertainment that not only sounds fantastic but also looks spectacular!

This year all proceeds from Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park will go to Surf Life Saving to aid in their ongoing work to help ensure New Zealand’s beaches are safer. Concert-goers are encouraged to buy a Santa hat, a lightstick or make a gold coin donation to support Surf Life Saving in New Zealand.
