Enderley cop gets dunked for Christmas
Enderley cop gets dunked for Christmas
10 DECEMBER 2009
For Immediate Release
Santa in a hot rod and a game of dunk-a-cop may not be part of your traditional Christmas celebration, but they’ll be the centrepieces of this year’s Christmas in Enderley Park event held this Thursday 17 December.
A popular but unsung local event, Council’s local neighbourhood advisor Hannah Banks says Christmas in Enderley Park will be a great day out for the family.
“While he usually rides a sleigh, Santa will be getting some very special wheels for the day.
Community Constable Mason Lepou will be making himself a wet target for anyone wanting to test their aim and for those who fancy themselves a singer, the karaoke competition is set to be a big hit. It will be a great day out for all the family with stalls, entertainment, lolly scramble and more.
“The best thing is that all proceeds will go towards a really great cause – an Enderley Community Tool Library – where residents can borrow lawnmowers and other tools for koha to keep their gardens tidy”.
Community tool libraries have been successfully established in many centres throughout the country, including Fordlands in Rotorua and Clendon in South Auckland.
Ms Banks says “Christmas in Enderley Park is a great opportunity for all Hamilton families to take a break for some good old-fashioned and affordable fun this silly season. At the event there will be opportunities to donate either tools or money towards the tool library. Or if they can’t make it on the day people can make their donation in person at Enderley Community Centre or arrange it by phoning 07 853 2483.” Christmas in Enderley Park will be held from 12-5pm on Thursday 17 December in Enderley Park on Tennyson Road, Hamilton.
