Aggravated Robbery Offender to be identified and located

At 5.12 pm on Tuesday 22nd December 2009, a male entered the Edgeware Post Shop, also known as the Kiwi Bookshop, on the corner of Edgeware Road and Sherborne Street, Edgeware, Christchurch.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Illingworth said “he remained in the shop for about 10 minutes without incident before approaching the counter and demanding money from the teller. He told staff he had a gun in his bag.”

A gun was however not seen by any witnesses to this robbery.

She said “he was given cash and left through the car park at the rear of the shops and to Sherborne Street.”

The male is described as

• Caucasian with olive or tanned skin
• About 6 ft tall
• Wearing dark cargo pants, a dark coloured shirt with a white T shirt underneath, and a distinctive beanie hat
• Carrying a red and blue sports bag

Detective Sergeant Illingworth said “that there are good photo’s from security cameras in the post shop and asks for anyone that can identify this person to contact the police immediately.

Detective Sergeant Illingworth also asks that anyone in this area at the time of the robbery who may have seen this person or unusual activities to contact police.

Information she be forwarded to Detective Sergeant Sarah ILLINGWORTH or Constable Janelle KERR at the Papanui Police on 363 7400.
