Dunedin Stadium to have open day

Nearly 12 months into the 25 month construction project, Forsyth Barr Stadium at University Plaza is opening its doors again to share and celebrate the huge progress that has been made to date.

The second Forsyth Barr Stadium Open Day is to be held on Saturday 19 June from 11am – 2pm and will give the public a behind-the-scenes view of the construction project as well as the opportunity to see the machinery in action and win some prizes.

The Open Day coincides with the last test match at Carisbrook where the All Blacks will face Wales, so a lot of interest is expected in the Stadium showcase.

Malcolm Farry, Chairman of the Carisbrook Stadium Charitable Trust says, “We’ve had a lot of people asking for another open day, so we’re really pleased to be able to give this opportunity to the public – it is after all their Stadium. The site has changed dramatically since the last open day in December, with the South Stand and the roof structure well underway, visitors will get a real sense of the scale of this project.”

Trish Oakley, Head of Product Development and Marketing at Forsyth Barr says, “It’s going to be an exciting Test weekend with a large number of visitors to our city. The open day provides an opportunity for people from across the region to inspect the Stadium’s construction progress and have a little pre match fun.”

With less than 430 days until opening, Trish Oakley said, “We are confident the Stadium will impress and look forward to the public verdict.”

Entry will be gold coin donation or $5 for a family. All proceeds will go to Rotary International’s PolioPlus campaign.
