2010 World Press Photo Exhibition Closes in Auckland

Those who entered the World Press Photo Competition went into the draw to win a 2010 World Press Photo Year Book containing 168 selected photos from the exhibition. Congratulations to Adrienne Carlisle who is the winner this year.

The World Press Photo Exhibition held from 14 August to 5 September 2010 in the Smith and Caughey Building has closed its doors in Auckland for 2010. The exhibition was brought to Auckland courtesy of The Rotary Club of Auckland.

This was the first time the exhibition was shown in Auckland and was very well received by the public with over 10,000 people attending. The exhibition also attracted many teachers and students from Auckland area – those studying photography, social sciences and multimedia were particularly keen to attend. There was also extensive interest and coverage by the media.

All proceeds after expenses will be donated to charities administered by The Rotary Club of Auckland.

After such support and interest from the public, The Rotary Club of Auckland is now looking at bringing the exhibition back to Auckland in 2011.

World Press Photo received support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery and is sponsored worldwide by Canon and TNT.
