Psa: Final Governance Board meeting today

Final Governance Board meeting today

Today, (November 17) is the final board meeting of the Governance Board chaired by Sir John Anderson and is also the last meeting for long time board member David Ritchie.

Chief executive Kevin Snee said he wanted to thank Sir John for the enormous contribution he had made in providing a steadying governance hand to the district health board.

“I have huge respect for Sir John – in the past year we have worked closely together. His ability to focus on key points and think outside the square to look for solutions has meant the DHB is now in a much stronger position to be sustainable into the future.

“His appointment came at a time when the DHB had been struggling both financially and publicly. Sir John was able to put all that aside and work with management and elected board members to create a solid governance foundation which will be the new board’s job to build on,” Dr Snee said.

Central Hawke’s Bay farmer David Ritchie has been a board member since April 1996 and had chaired the Audit and Risk Committee for the Board and the Governance Board for nine years

Dr Snee said Mr Ritchie had made a significant contribution to the Governance Board and was widely respected by the senior management team for his role as the chair of the Finance and Audit Committee and for his constructive challenge on the board.

Although this is the final meeting of the governance board it will remain in place until the newly elected board takes over on December 6.

The first meeting of the new board, including four government appointees, will meet for the first time on December 15th.

Minister of Health Tony Ryall is expected to announce the names of appointed board members along with the name of the person who will chair the board later this month.
