New plans and drawings tough enough for a construction site battering

New process prints plans that are rip resistant, waterproof and durable

The days of laminating printed plans to protect them from the wear and tear of work sites ended this week with the launch of the new Tuffplans® product – a waterproof, durable and tear proof design and construction plan printing process.

Managing director of Tuffplans® parent company Papermint, Eddie De Heer, said that architects, builders and draftsmen will only have to print once – no more reprints -- because Tuffplans® are robust enough outlast the toughest conditions.

“Tuffplans are rip resistant and can be washed. Unlike laminated plans, engineers, builders, plumbers, electricians -- anybody on site -- can actually make notes on the plans themselves,” he said.

Combining two cutting edge technologies, Tuffplans® is the outcome of a high speed printing process that creates plans cheaper, faster and tougher than anything that’s been done before – in colour and black & white with excellent results from electronic files.

The Tuffplans’® offering includes high quality, excellent resolution and durable CAD, 2D, 3D renders and GIS maps.

“Because Tuffplans® uses a synthetic material with the same properties as paper, it can be rolled and folded like any other paper.

“Another benefit of Tuffplans® is that we can print A1 colour -- for less than it costs currently to print and laminate black and white plans. This allows architects to overlay plans like electrical and mechanical services onto one sheet because they’re colour coded.”

Tuffplans® have the added bonus of being environmentally friendly; there’s no ozone emissions, no odour and no system contamination.

Mr De Heer said that users have only to upload the plan or design to the Tuffplans® website for overnight printing and next day delivery anywhere in the country.

“There’s no more waiting at printers for completed plans. Simply upload them online and we will ensure next day delivery to your door – essentially Tuffplans® isn’t just a new product, it’s a new concept in plan printing. It doesn’t matter if the customer wants plans printed on conventional paper, they can still upload any electronic plan file and receive next day delivery.”
