New Tairua-Pauanui Community Board sworn in
Bob Renton appointed Chairperson
Tairua-Pauanui Community Board elected Pauanui's Bob Renton as Chairperson and Barry Swindles as Deputy Chairperson at its inaugural meeting.
The elections of Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson followed the verbal declarations of (in alphabetical order) Chris Cooper, Gloria Giles, Bob Renton, Barry Swindles, Jan Bartley and Jack Wells. The elected members of the Board then signed a written version of the declaration which was witnessed by Mayor Glenn Leach.
Bob Renton was then nominated as Chairperson by Tairua's Gloria Giles and seconded by South Eastern Ward councillor Jan Bartley.
Similarly, Gloria Giles nominated and Chris Cooper seconded the election of Barry Swindles as Deputy Chairperson.
Formal Tairua Harbour Committee
established
Tairua-Pauanui Community Board makes Tairua Harbour sub-committee formal
Tairua-Pauanui Community Board decided to formalise the establishment of a Tairua Harbour Committee at its inaugural November meeting.
Chair Bob Renton and Board member Gloria Giles were appointed on behalf of the Community Board to work with Environment Waikato (EW) and other committee members on EW's Tairua Harbour and Catchment Management Plan. Meetings will be held in March and September.
Re-established working groups included the Pauanui and Tairua Parks and Reserves Working Group and the Tairua/Pauanui Water Options Working Group.
Chris Cooper was appointed as the Board's liaison representative to the Tairua Library, Tairua Community Hall Society and Tairua Beach Care. Barry Swindles was appointed as liaison to the Pauanui Sports & Recreation Club and Pauanui Beach Care. Gloria Giles was appointed liaison to the Hikuai Hall Board.
Bob Renton and Chris Cooper were also appointed as the Board's delegated authority to comment on planning matters, new leases and the renewal of leases in Pauanui and Tairua respectively.
