Wellington Police investigating serious traffic incident which left woman with fractured hip and ankle

Wellington Police are investigating a serious incident involving a motor vehicle colliding with a pedestrian on Wednesday this week and are seeking witnesses to it.

Police were alerted by members of the public at approximately 8.10pm on Wednesday 1 December 2010 that a motor vehicle had collided with a pedestrian near the intersection of John Street and Adelaide Road in Newtown.

Detective Sergeant Mike Priston says a 46 year old woman received a fractured hip and fractured ankle as a result of the incident.

"Several witnesses have been interviewed in respect to the incident, however we are urging further witnesses to come forward and help Police with our inquiries."
