Hamilton Police appeal for information

Hamilton Police appeal for information on central city hit and run incident

Hamilton Police investigating an alleged hit and run incident in the central city early this morning are appealing for sightings of a car believed involved.

Sergeant Craig Singer said Police were called to London St about 3am.

"At this point we believe a number of men had been fighting on the street, one of who was a passenger in a car.

"It appears the driver of the car has driven the dark coloured Subaru on to the footpath and into the melee, injuring one of those fighting."

Mr Singer said the passenger got back into the car after the victim was knocked down and the vehicle drove off.

The man knocked to the ground was taken by ambulance to Waikato Hospital suffering minor to moderate injuries and has since been released.

"We're appealing to the public for any information on who the occupants of the car may be and ask anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact the Police," said Mr Singer.

Alternatively information can be left anonymously on the CrimeStoppers crimeline, 0800 555111.

Note to media; Sgt Singer is not on duty today but will resume duties this evening and as such is not available for radio interviews during the day.
