A Spectacular Array of Summer Activities

The Greater Wellington Regional Council is launching its biggest-ever Great Outdoors summer events programme next week, packed full of activities for the whole family to enjoy in Greater Wellington's regional park network.

"With 64 events there are plenty of options to have a fun in the sun this summer. And all of the events are within our region - so you can get away from it all and enjoy new experiences without having to travel very far," says Greater Wellington's Social and Cultural Wellbeing Committee Chair Nigel Wilson.

"Accessibility is important to us, so we've made sure there's something for all ages and abilities. Whether you'd like a guided nature walk led by rangers, a family day of activities that grandparents and toddlers can enjoy or a challenging tramp in the bush - there's something for everyone. We've also made sure that most of the events are either free or low-cost, so that people of all incomes can experience what our regional parks and forests have to offer."

The events take place from 6 January to 7 April 2011. You can view the programme on Greater Wellington's website www.gw.govt.nz/events and make bookings from 6 December. For information and bookings, call 04 801 4041 or email bookings@gw.govt.nz.
