Watercare’s Board of Directors Confirmed

The Auckland Council’s Council Controlled Organisation Strategy and Appointments Subcommittee confirmed the allocation of positions to Watercare’s Board of Directors at its meeting yesterday.

Ross Keenan was confirmed as Chairman and David Clarke as Deputy Chairman.

Mr Keenan, who is currently the deputy chairman of Watercare, will take over the role of Chairman from Graeme Hawkins who will be retiring from the board after serving from 2002 and 2003 as Chairman.

Mr Keenan brings extensive experience in the Auckland water industry to the Chairmanship of the Watercare Board. He was previously Chairman of Metrowater, Counties Manukau District Health Board and Southern Travel Holdings Ltd and has served on the Watercare Board in the past.

Mr Clarke, is currently a Watercare Board member and has served on the board since July 2008. He has served on a number of boards across several sectors including IT and health, and has governance and leadership experience as former CEO of Neuren Pharmaceuticals.

Mr Pat Snedden was reappointed to the Watercare Board for an additional one-year term.

Mr Snedden has been a director of Watercare for eight years.

The changes will take effect from Watercare’s Annual General Meeting in December 2010.

A process will commence shortly to fill up to two additional positions on Watercare’s Board. These positions will be publicly advertised.
