New Pathway Section Opens

13 December 2010

Cyclists and walkers can now travel a Pathway route all the way along the Hawke’s Bay coast from Bay View to the north of Napier to Clifton southeast of Hastings, with the opening today of the new Pathway section between Haumoana and Te Awanga.

The majority of the cost of this section was met through fundraising by Hastings Rotary Pathway Trust and the Pathway was officially opened today, Monday 13 December, by Rotary District Governor, Peter Signal.

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council assisted with the design and project management of this section.

The route features a bridge over Grange Creek at Haumoana sponsored by TSB bank.

This section also forms part of the government’s New Zealand Cycle Trail Project, Heretaunga Ararau. The Landscape trail is being constructed through the Tukituki Valley and designed and project managed by the Regional Council.
