Wairarapa CIB investigating aggravated robbery early last night

Wairarapa Police are investigating an aggravated robbery in Masterton early last night.

Detective Sergeant Rob Rackliff of the Wairarapa CIB says a man in his late teens or early twenties went to a house in Cameron Cresent about 5:40pm and demanded cash.

"The offender then assaulted a 50 year old male occupant with a weapon, leaving him with minor injuries. The offender left the house with a small amount of cash and took off in the direction of Church Street."

Detective Sergeant Rackliff says this was a traumatic incident for the victim and his family who were also present at the time. Police need help from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area about the same time or have any information in relation to the incident.

The offender is described as Maori or Polynesian, about 6 feet tall of thin build. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark brown t-shirt with hi-top sneakers. He was clean-shaven, apart from a thin moustache and had short dark curly hair.

Anyone with information should contact the Wairarapa Police on (06) 370 0300 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
