Rape Accused Gets A Broken Jaw
South Otago Police are investigating a Rape complaint which occurred at a Kaitangata address at about 7.00am on the 26th of December 2010 after a party.
The suspect was known to the victim and staying at the address due to the overnight party.
The victim, a 26 year old South Otago woman, is convalescing at home with family and friends.
Police are also investigating a serious assault on the suspect by associates of the victim.
The suspect is currently in Dunedin Hospital after surgery on a broken jaw.
Due to the nature of the enquiry there will be no further comments made until the matter has been resolved.
Police from Balclutha, Owaka, Clinton, and Dunedin are currently working on the enquiry.
