Fly-Thru With Airasia X

Fly-Thru With Airasia X

New service enables AirAsia X passengers on multiple city travel to do so without a transit visa, and enjoy the added convenience of a single check-in service

When AirAsia X begins flying out of Christchurch from 1 April, passengers on multiple-flight travel through to Paris, Mumbai, Bali, Jakarta, Bangkok, Taipei, London, New Delhi and Singapore will not have to apply for a transit visa with Fly-Thru.

Fly-Thru is a new service that enables passengers on multiple-flight travel to perform a single check-in through to their final airport of destination.

Fly-Thru is available to passengers travelling on selected AirAsia (short-haul) and all AirAsia X (long-haul) flights transiting through Kuala Lumpur whose original and forward flights have a connecting time of between 90 minutes and six hours.

With Fly-Thru, passengers can connect to their next flight to their intended destination without the need for immigration clearance or a transit visa in Malaysia. On arrival in Kuala Lumpur, passengers will be given access to the transit hall, which is directly connected to the departure hall and will need to be at the departure gate at least 20minutes before their connecting flight.

The service eliminates the need to re-check luggage when connecting to the next flight to the final destination.

AirAsia’s Regional Head of Commercial, Kathleen Tan said that Fly-Thru is the result of the airline’s continuous effort to improve its service and offer convenience to low-cost air travel.

“While creativity and effectiveness continue to drive AirAsia forward, we will continue to seek innovative tools and platforms that simplify air travel and provide a better service experience to all our passengers”

“Fly-Thru enables passengers to leverage on the strength of our network and connectivity to position Kuala Lumpur as the gateway for travel across ASEAN and beyond,” Kathleen said.

Passengers who do not want to leverage on this service, will continue to be offered the option of point-to-point travel. Instead of the convenience of a single check-in service, they will be required to check in separately for their original and connecting flights and will not enjoy the check through service for their baggage. Passengers will also have to go through the immigration clearance at the check-points in Kuala Lumpur before being allowed to proceed to the departure gates for their connecting flights.
