Information still sought in relation to Johnsonville murder

Public information still sought in relation to murder of Johnsonville man

Wellington Police are pleased with the number of calls received to the free phone line in relation to the murder of Matthew Hall but are still seeking more help from the public.

35 year old Matthew Hall died as a result of a ferocious attack whilst in his bed at home in Johnsonville on Tuesday evening.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton, head of the investigation says after Police launched the free phone line 0508 BRODERICK yesterday they received several calls, with people providing useful information, however, more is needed.

"We're speaking to a number of friends and associates of Mr Hall's, however, I cannot stress enough how important it is for those who were in the vicinity of 118 Broderick Road, Johnsonville, between midday Monday 14 February 2011 and 6pm Tuesday to phone us as soon as possible, if they saw anyone entering or leaving the address."

Dave Thornton says, "Over the past couple of days I've said that it is the public who will solve this homicide, and it is vital that anyone with any information contacts Police as soon as possible."

ESR scientists are expected to complete their scene examination later today, however Police will still remain at the property conducting theirs.

Anyone with any information should phone 0508 BRODERICK.
