EU's Civil Protection Mechanism available for Christchurch

The European Union is following with great concern the tragedy of Canterbury's latest great earthquake.

The New Zealand authorities have been informed that the European Union civil protection mechanism is available in case of need, as it was when the first earthquake struck the region in September 2010.

Our thoughts are with the people of Canterbury once again in their hour of need.
