Korean Presidential Unit Citation Presentation

A parade will be held to commemorate the presentation of the Korean Presidential Citation to NZ Army’s 16 Field Regiment on Thursday, 26 May 2011.

16 Field Regiment personnel and veterans of that regiment who served in the Korean War from 15 December 1950 and 1 November 1951 will also be presented the insignia for the Korean Presidential Citation, originally presented in November 1951 in recognition of meritorious service and heroism during the War.

The 1951 Korean Presidential Citation was made in recognition of 16 Field Regiment’s part in holding ground and halting the assault of communist forces during the Battle of Kapyong in April 1951.

The insignia will be presented by Korean Minister of Patriots and Veterans’ Affairs, Minister Park.

What: Korean Presidential Citation Presentation
Where: Linton Army Camp, Palmerston North
When: Thursday 26 May from 12.30 – 1.45pm

The ceremony will be attended by the New Zealand Minister of Veterans’ Affairs, the Hon Judith Collins, Chief of Army Major General Tim Keating, and the Colonel Commandant of the Royal New Zealand Artillery, Colonel Barry Dreyer.
