Fatal Crash

At approximately 2:30am this morning there was a fatal crash on State Highway 2, just South of Mt Bruce, Masterton which closed the road until further notice.
Emergency services are at the scene and a diversion is in place.

The road is closed at the Mauriceville turn off, Kaiparoro (Nth of Mt Bruce) and Opaki Kaiparoro Rd, Opaki (Sth of Mt Bruce)

A motor home has left the road and gone down a bank.

There were two occupants in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The 47yr old male has died at the scene and a 10 yr old boy who was not injured has been taken to Masterton Hospital for an examination.

It is unknown at this stage as to the cause of the crash and there were no other vehicles involved.

Specialist police staff are at the location carrying out a scene examination.
