Serious Motor Vehicle crash - south of Ward

SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH SH 1 WARD

There has been a serious motor vehicle crash south of Ward on State Highway 1 this evening, involving a truck and a car.

As a result of this crash State Highway 1 is closed in both directions, north and south, for some time, whilst emergency services work to clear the scene.

Motorists are advised they will have to wait until this is done or take an alternatiive route through the Lewis Pass.

At this time there is no time frame for the road re-opening.
