RAP Connects with Far North Youth Workers

An innovative and ground-breaking project promoting youth non-violence is coming to Northland this month (August).

RAP: Respect All People – Whakamana Tangata supports youth organisations to take a leadership role in reducing and replacing violence in the environments they provide to young people. RAP is managed by the National Network of Stopping Violence, Te Kupenga, and funded by the Ministry of Health.

RAP youth programme trainer Dale Ferris will deliver a presentation to introduce the project to youth workers, health promoters and violence prevention professionals – at Bream Bay Community Trust at Ruakaka in Whangarei on August 24 and 25.

The presentation will be followed by a one-day training workshop on the programme, concepts and resources for direct use with rangatahi. Participants will be given new ideas, approaches and practical suggestions on what youth organisations can do in their communities to change attitudes to violence.

RAP will also promote the youth non-violence message of respect at a youth health expo being hosted by Bream Bay Community Trust in Whangarei on August 26. The trust is a member agency of Te Kupenga.
