CCC Media Advisory: Update at 1100 Monday 15 August

Christchurch City Council advises that all Council Sport and Recreation Centres, libraries and other community facilities are closed today.

The Council will assess whether they should re-open tomorrow depending on the weather conditions.

The Council is warning motorist to stay off city roads and to travel only if essential. Chains are required. Many local roads will not be cleared for some time. See latest update on road closure [PDF 84 KB]

Crews are working to keep major roads as clear as possible and are starting to spread grit at intersections and roundabouts.

Keep in contact with neighbours, especially the elderly or disabled.

Please leave your bins out for collection. Contractors will progressively collect each area as soon as the conditions allow for them to do so safely.

If your bin has not been collected within the week please call the Council on 941 8999 941 8999 or 0800 800 169 as it may have been missed.
