Roads closed for Sir Paul Reeves' state funeral

Roads will be closed and parking restrictions put in place from today around the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Parnell for Sir Paul Reeves' state funeral tomorrow, Thursday 18 August.

The funeral will commence at 11am, with parking restrictions and road closures allowing for the large numbers expected to pay their respects to the former governor general of New Zealand.

Motorists are advised to avoid the Parnell area and surrounding streets if at all possible.

Road closures and parking restrictions include:

* Parking restrictions on Burleigh Street, Eden Terrace - 0600 Wednesday 17 August to 2200 Thursday 18 August


* Parking restrictions on Brighton Road, Parnell, Birdwood Cres, Parnell 0800 to 1400 Thursday 18 August


* Road closure St Stephens Ave from Parnell Road to Brighton Rd, Parnell 0800 to 1400 Thursday 18 August


* Road closure Domain Drive from Titoki Street to Parnell Road 0900 - 1100 Thursday 18 August


* Road closure Parnell Road from Ayr Street to St Stephens Ave intersection 0900 to 1400 Thursday 18 August.

The funeral service starts at 1100 at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Parnell

The cortege will leave Holy Sepulchre Church on Burleigh St, Eden Terrace at 0930, turning right on to Khyber Pass Road, then left on to Grafton Road, right into Park Road, left into Domain Drive and continue through the Domain to Parnell Road.

The armed forces join the progression at Titoki Street and slow marches to the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Parnell.
