Two men charged in connection to gang related incident in Masterton last week
Wairarapa Police have arrested two men in connection to a gang related incident in Masterton last week.
Detective Sergeant Rob Rackliff of the Wairarapa CIB says the alleged incident occurred in the Countdown supermarket carpark around 1pm on Thursday 11 August, where the victim, aged in his twenties, got into an altercation, inside a van parked in the carpark, with two other men known to him.
"It's alleged the victim was head butted during the altercation and threats were made towards his safety."
Two gang members, aged 32 and 36 years have appeared in the Masterton District Court. The 32 year old man faces one charge of blackmail. He has been remanded on bail until 8 September 2011.
The 36 year old man is also charged with blackmail and assault with intent to injure. He has been remanded in custody to reappear on 1 September 2011.
"Police will not tolerance these acts of violence and intimidation in the Wairarapa and will continue to take a firm stance when incidents such as these are brought to our attention."
The victim was not seriously injured in the incident.
