Police are investigating a fourth incident in which a woman was approached by an unknown man when she was walking home in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 21).
About 1.45am the 21-year-old woman was walking on Cobham Road when she was approached by a man. The woman ran off and alerted Police when she arrived home. She was unharmed in the incident.
Detective Sergeant Kevin Burke says the incident
is among four similar incidents, involving woman walking
home alone, that are being investigated by Kerikeri
Police.
They are seeking witnesses to all these
incidents.
One occurred near the intersection of Cobham Court and Cobham Road Kerikeri at about 11.30pm on Saturday July 23; the other two in the early hours of Saturday July 9 and Sunday July 17.
Mr Burke says police are still keen to hear from anyone may have seen these incidents or a lone person walking or running at the times these incidents occurred.
Police are also advising, in response to these reported attacks, that local they have increased patrolling in the area including visits to licensed premises to raise awareness about these occurrences.
They would also like to remind people who are out for a few drinks at night to stay together and to use either the courtesy cabs provided, or call a cab rather than walk alone at night.
Members of the public with information can contact the Acting Detective Sergeant Greg Johnson on 09 407 4923 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
