Serious Assault In Wellington

Full description: Wellington CIB are investigating an incident in which a lone female was attacked in Central Wellington late last night.

Detective Constable James Stewart said the 27 year old female was assaulted while walking through the Massey University Campus at about 10pm last night.

"A male has approached the victim from behind, covered her mouth with his hand and dragged her into a secluded area of the campus."

"The victim fought back and was able to scream for help and punch the offender, causing him to flee the scene"

The offender was described as a male Caucasian of medium height and build with light coloured, but not blonde hair. He was aged between 25 - 35 years.

The victim was shaken, but otherwise unhurt.
