Hastings welcomes 36 new
citizens
Hastings will welcome 36 new New Zealanders,
at a citizenship ceremony to be held on Monday August 29th,
2011 from 6pm in the District Council Chamber, Lyndon Road,
Hastings.
The candidates’ nationalities are as
follows:
British: 11
South African: 3
Samoan:
4
Kiribati Samoan: 1
Dutch: 1
Brazilian:
2
Australian: 1
American: 4
Fijian: 3
Indian:
4
Russian: 1
Turkish: 1
Two kaumatua representing
mana whenua will welcome the new citizens.
Hastings
District Councillors will present each candidate with a
kowhai tree to symbolise ‘putting down
roots’.
