37 people charged after two-week 'tinnie house' crackdown

37 people charged after two-week 'tinnie house' crackdown in Counties Manukau

Over the past two weeks officers across Counties Manukau executed 36 warrants on drug dealing houses as part of an ongoing effort to combat drugs and disrupt organised crime groups.

The search warrants resulted in the seizure of:

• 135 cannabis 'tinnies' ($2700 value)
• 1899 grams of harvested cannabis plant ($24000 value)
• 111 cannabis plants
• 51 grams of methamphetamine ($51,000 value)
• 1 clan lab
• $16510 cash
• A firearm

As a result of this operation, 37 people are now before the courts facing charges which include manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine for supply, possession of cannabis for supply, cultivating cannabis and unlawful possession of a firearm.

A vast array of stolen property was also located at the addresses.

Detective Inspector Dave Lynch says "Drug dealing or tinnie houses are often hubs for all manner of criminal offending, including the supply of methamphetamine and receiving stolen property.

"The results of the last two weeks highlight why drug dealing houses are being targeted by Police, and why communities need to join together to send a clear message that drug dealing houses won't be tolerated in their neighbourhoods."

"The public can play their part in targeting drug dealers in the community by contacting their local police with any information about drug dealing houses, or if they want to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers 0800 555111."
