Marewa Shop Front Centre for Freeholding

Marewa Shop Front Centre for Freeholding

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council will be opening a shop front information centre in Marewa this week to provide a more convenient location for people wanting to discuss freeholding their leasehold land.

The shop is in the Marewa Shopping Centre at 142 Kennedy Road in Napier, the former MU Financial Services premises (at the south end).

Regional Council leasehold staff will be in the store on Thursday 1, Friday 2 and Saturday 3 September from 11am - 3pm.

The council recently sent a newsletter to all leaseholders informing them of the council’s decision to offer a further 17.5% discount to residential leaseholders wanting to freehold, and 10% discount to investor leaseholders who freehold. There is also $1000 available to cross-lessees able to freehold to assist with their more complex legal fees. The offers are valid on property sales completed by 30 June next year.

As every leasehold property is different –in different markets, different locations, in different use and with leases at different stages of the 21 year lease term – it is important that people talk directly with the Council about their freehold options and the assistance available.
