Several changes included in amended Road User Rule

The NZ Transport Agency is reminding motorists that the new Road User Amendment Rule contains several changes to traffic rules, in addition to changes to the give way rules that will come into force on Sunday 25 March 2012.

The Land Transport Rule: Road User Amendment 2011 also contains additional changes and clarifications which will come into force on 1 October 2011. These changes are designed to clarify existing rules, improve safety and keep traffic moving on our roads.

They include changes relating to drivers approaching pedestrian crossings at schools, speed limits for school buses on school trips, the use of bus lanes by motorcycles, and medical exemptions from the use of child restraints or safety belts.

More details on the Road User Rule changes are available at www.nzta.govt.nz/road-user-rule or by calling 0800 656 055.
