Man charged with Stokes Valley shopping centre stabbing
yesterday morning
A 37 year old man will appear in the
Lower Hutt District Court today charged in connection with a
stabbing which occurred at the Stokes Valley shopping centre
at about 9:15am yesterday morning.
An altercation took
place between two males, known to each other, which resulted
in one of them receiving stab wounds to his lower back.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper of the Lower Hutt
CIB says, "The 36 year old victim's injuries were not life
threatening but he did require medical attention."
As a
result of the incident, a 37 year old male was arrested last
night and will appear in Court today charged with wounding
with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
D/S/S Cooper
says Police will continue to take positive steps in dealing
with crimes of violence. These types of incidents are all
too common and can end in tragic circumstances.
Police
are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
