Red checkers kicks off its display season close to home with Rugby World Cup teasers
The Bulls community will get a sneak preview of what the Red Checkers have in store for the Rugby World Cup at its ‘Running of the Bulls’ festival this weekend.
At the end of the festival on Saturday 10 September, the Red Checkers RNZAF flying team will thrill crowds with their brilliant aerobatic display at the Bulls Domain.
The Red Checkers are well known in New Zealand and overseas for their professional and skilful high standard of entertaining display flying.
RNZAF Squadron Leader Jim Rankin, the leader of the Red Checkers team says, “This year we have a busy schedule of events with the Rugby World Cup and then right on the back of that is the RNZAF’s 75th Anniversary in 2012 which sees us participating in major events across the country. It’s going to be a big year.
“By its very nature Red Checkers flying appeals to a broad range of people and aerobatic displays always draw a good crowd. The Checkers is a way to showcase the skills the RNZAF has, and is a tangible demonstration to the public of New Zealand key Air Force values of teamwork and professionalism.”
