Police release name of dead Balclutha woman

Police have named the Balclutha woman who died on Monday.

Lusi Aleni-Faamoe Ioane, 41, was found dead at a residential address in the town on Monday morning.

Over the past three days Police and forensic specialists from Christchurch ESR have carried out a scene examination at the address. They hope to complete this work sometime tomorrow, Detective Sergeant Chris Henderson said.

A post-mortem has been completed this morning. Police were not prepared to comment in detail on the circumstances around Mrs Faamoe Ioane's death or the findings from the post-mortem.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault in relation to her death. A further more serious charge is expected to be laid at his next court appearance on 18 October.

As the matter is now before the Court, police won't be commenting further.
