Assault

Between 8.15am - 9.15 am on Thursday 15th December 2011, a female of Chinese descent (the victim), was walking along the footpath on Greenlane West Rd. She was walking towards Great South Road.

She was wearing a black tracksuit (top and bottom), she had a black back-pack on her back and was holding a small maroon umbrella.

She turned into Wheturangi Road. At that time a male Polynesian was riding a bicycle (against the flow of traffic) on the footpath of Wheturangi Rd towards Greenlane West Rd. He was described as having dark skin, 20 -30 years old, wearing a black jacket and dark coloured trousers.

The bicycle he was riding is described as being old looking with straight handle bars. It was a faded dark colour.

As they approached the corner of Puriri Avenue and Wheturangi Road the male grabbed the victim from behind. She was able to get away from him and ran along Wheturangi Road before turning into Matai Rd.

The male gave chase on foot.

Police would like to hear from anyone in the community who saw either the victim or the male between 7.30am - 9.30am on Thursday 15th December 2011.
