Fatal Crash 8/08/12 Penrose Road, Mount Wellington

Fatal Crash 8/08/12 Penrose Road, Mount Wellington.

Police urgently need to speak to the driver of a truck who was stationary in the right hand lane heading east towards Mount Wellington H/way on Penrose Road at about 1:25pm yesterday afternoon. The crash occurred opposite the Penrose Road entrance to Countdown. The victim has walked across the front of the truck just prior to the crash.

Unfortunately police do not have a description of the truck, but it is possibly a truck and trailer unit.

An 86 year old female pedestrian from Mount Wellington was crossing Penrose Road in a northerly direction, (from the Countdown side) when she was struck by a red Toyota vehicle in the left hand lane.

She was transported to Auckland hospital, but unfortunately passed away at around 6pm last night.

We seek any other witnesses that have not already spoken to Police. Please call Const Ryan of the Auckland Serious Crash Unit on 3593106.

Constable Gerard Ryan
