Will Enthuse Residents To Comment On Recreation
Strategy
The Draft Active
Recreation Strategy is out for consultation and the feedback
period has been extended to the end of August. The
Palmerston North City Council would like more feedback from
individuals, schools, sports groups and organisations.
The Council allocates significant funding to parks, reserves, playgrounds, indoor sports facilities, sports fields and pools. It wants to make sure this investment will meet future demands.
The Council would like to receive feedback from the community on:

Ideas about how we could promote recreational opportunities
in the City and get people moving.
• How the
City’s indoor sports hub Arena Manawatū should be
developed.
• Should the amount of natural park
area available to residents be increased?
“Following
New Zealand’s and Manawatū’s success at the Olympics
I’m sure many residents will want to comment on Palmerston
North’s sporting facilities and their aspirations for
sport in the city,” policy analyst Tracey Hunt said.
Council would like to see more people participating in active recreation and it recognises that a more active community will enjoy more health and wellbeing benefits.
