Police and Fire investigators commence investigation into fatal Hamilton blaze

A scene guard is in place and fire-fighters remain at the scene dampening down following a fatal house fire in east Hamilton early this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton of the Hamilton CIB said emergency services were called to the Holland Rd address shortly before 4am.

"After fire-fighters extinguished the blaze a person's body was found inside the house. As a result an investigation into this unexplained sudden death is now underway.

"Hot spots at the property are still being dampened down and a scene guard is in place. A joint Fire Service and Police investigation into the cause of the fire will commence later this morning after first light."

Two adults and two children from the address were taken to Waikato Hospital by ambulance.
