Public submissions to Panel extended to 21 September 2012
The
independent Wellington Region Local Government Review Panel
has extended the submission period in which residents and
ratepayers in the Greater Wellington region can have their
say on potential local government reform.
The submission
period has been extended until Friday 21 September 2012 in
recognition of the significant public and ratepayer interest
in the Panel’s programme of work, including their Issues
Paper which looks at the major challenges facing the future
of the region.

Public meetings have taken place in Wairarapa, Porirua,
Karori, Wellington CBD and further meetings will take place
in Khandallah, Newtown, Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt in the
next two weeks.

Government Review Panel
The independent Panel is
tasked with exploring the future of local government in the
greater Wellington region by seeking public feedback on
issues concerning the needs of ratepayers and residents in
the region.
The Panel consists of Sir Geoffrey Palmer
(Chair), Sir Wira Gardiner, Sue Driver and Bryan Jackson.
