Police
and other emergency services are currently attending a crash
involving a vehicle carrying a number of horses that has
overturned.
The crash occurred on SH 3, also known as Mokau Road, near the intersection with Hills Road, Tongaporutu. The crash itself has not blocked the road but the presence of a number of emergency vehicles is likely to create some delays.
The vehicle has rolled down a bank and the horses are still inside. The driver of the vehicle is trapped and the extent of his injuries are not fuller known. Police are in the process of releasing the horses into a nearby paddock where their condition will be assessed.
