Be The Voice of Youth in Manurewa

If you have always dreamed of making a change in your community and enjoy working with other young people in Manurewa, now is the time to take action.

The Manurewa Youth Council is calling for applications for vibrant, enthusiastic and passionate people aged between 12 and 24 years with a “can do” attitude to be on the Youth Council Committee for the year of 2013.

The Manurewa Youth Council was set up by the Manurewa Local Board in 2011 with the vision of creating stronger Manurewa communities by connecting, supporting and empowering young people to become actively engaged in the community.

Current Manurewa Youth Council chairperson Simeon Brown believes that being a part of the youth council offers real experiences at a grassroots level where there is an opportunity to gain skills and have fun at the same time.

“Successful applicants will be a part of an exciting team who make submissions to the Auckland Council, engage directly with the Manurewa Local Board and make real decisions involving young people in the community,” adds Mr Brown.

If you are interested in youth issues in Manurewa and enjoy working together with other young people in your area, there are 18 roles available which include Chairperson, Deputy Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Communication/Marketing Lead, Relationship Lead, Events/Activities organiser, Forum Lead, Cultural Lead, and general committee members.

To apply, email rewayouthcouncil@gmail.com or call 021 02724242 to request for an application form. Applications must be submitted by 21 September 2012.

From the submissions, a selection panel will shortlist suitable candidates. Those shortlisted will be contacted for an interview. Announcement of the new Youth Council Committee for 2013 will be announced in early October 2012.
