New chief executive appointed for Otago Regional Council

Otago Regional Council (ORC) chairman Stephen Woodhead announced today that Peter Bodeker has been appointed as the new council chief executive, replacing Graeme Martin, who is retiring.

Mr Bodeker is currently chief executive of the Seafood Industry Council..

Cr Woodhead said ORC was delighted to be able to appoint Mr Bodeker after a robust and thorough recruitment process.

Mr Bodeker is an experienced chief executive with an extensive career spanning the dairy, wood processing, and seafood industries. He will take up his new role during November.

Cr Woodhead said: “Peter is a strategic thinker with proven strong leadership skills. His depth of experience in the primary sector, balancing productive interests with the need for long-term sustainability, will ensure he adapts quickly to the local government scene, and leads our staff as they implement the Long Term Plan.”

“We are looking forward to working with Peter to promote the sustainable development of Otago’s resources,” he said.
