Kapiti Police investigating death of young man overnight

Kapiti Police are investigating the death of a young man in the Kapiti Lights complex overnight.

Officer in charge of the Kapiti Mana CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam says around 12:40am Police were called to an altercation in the carpark area of Kapiti Lights. A 20 year old Paraparaumu man was found dead at the scene.

“The scene remains cordoned off this morning and Police are currently speaking with some people who were in the vicinity of the Monteiths Kapiti Junction bar at the time of the altercation.”

D/S/S Oxnam says Police are in the early stages of this investigation and have a large team working on establishing the circumstances surrounding this death.

Police will not be releasing the name of the deceased until all next of kin have been advised.
