Hottest Home Baker at the Show

Winner of season 3 of Chelsea New Zealand’s Hottest Home Baker, Emily Taylor, will be tempting Show crowds with her baking delights and imparting some sure fire tips with daily demonstrations in the Electrolux demonstration kitchen at the 150th Canterbury A&P Show.

Taylor beat out seven other contestants to win the home baker crown earlier this year, going head to head with runner-up Esme Dawson in a final that had them create a range of mini-delicacies for a high tea.

Taylor grew up on a high country sheep station in Arthur’s Pass, baking has always been a part of her life as there were always plenty of people to feed. “Since having children, baking has become even more of a passion. This is the reason I went on Hottest Home Baker, to not only challenge myself but to show people that baking can be fun,” added Taylor.

The demonstration kitchen in the Food & Wine NZ Pavilion will also include daily demos from Rural Women NZ with themes including Good ol’ Meat and Vege, Lemons 101 and Let the Party Begin. “We’re taking things back to basics this year with cooking demonstrations by real life people who excel at what they do. There will be no jus or complicated cooking techniques in sight; just good, honest food with plenty of tips that visitors will be able to incorporate into their own cooking” commented Food & Wine NZ Pavilion co-ordinator Sharon Lloyd.

and gourmet German sausages, there’s plenty of temptations on show. For those with a sweet tooth there will be sugary treats including cakes, desserts and exotic candy delights – finished off with a serving of fresh strawberries and ice-cream. To quench your thirst there’s plenty on tap with bourbon, cider, spirits, liquers and wines all available for purchase” added Lloyd.

The Food & Wine NZ Pavilion will also display the winning wines and gourmet oils from the Avenues International Aromatic Wine Competition and New Zealand Gourmet Oil Competition.
