Police Seek Witnesses To Attempted Abduction

7 November 2012

Hutt Valley Police are seeking information relating to the attempted abduction of a young female on Randwick Road, Moera at about 7pm on 7 November 2012.

The young female was walking north on Randwick Road toward the shopping area when a male got out of the passenger side of a black car that was parked on the side of Randwick Road and grabbed her by her shoulders and tried to force her into his car. She describes the male as Maori, with short dark hair and beard, wearing dark sunglasses, black track pants and black jersey. He walked with a noticeable limp.

Detective Iain Burns of the Hutt Valley CIB says the young female was able to fight off the offender and make her escape.

"Police are seeking information from anyone in the Moera shopping area on Randwick Road in the evening of Wednesday 7 November 2012 who may have seen the male or noticed any suspicious activity."

Anyone with information should contact the Lower Hutt Police on (04) 560 2600 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
