Wot about a quirky Easter weekend?

New Zealand – 27 March 2013: Is it time for something a bit different this Easter? Leading travel website Wotif.co.nz has six things you can do in New Zealand for an out of the ordinary Easter.

Top of Wotif.co.nz’s list of things to do this weekend is to check out the gypsy house-trucks and buses at Dunedin, according to Wotif.co.nz General Manager Joachim Holte.

“If you’re looking for something to do this weekend that isn’t the usual Easter egg hunt, then the Gypsy Fair at Dunedin is worth a visit. You can wander through the gypsy truck homes, watch the glass blowing and browse the craft stalls,” Mr Holte said.

If retro is more your style, then Wotif.co.nz suggests riding on a classic double decker bus and reliving the fifties at Awapuni’s Square Affair Retro Festival.

“You could step back in time at the Square Affair and see Awapuni’s sights from the top of an old double decker bus or go and watch the retro fashion parade,” Mr Holte said.

For the Easter egg hunt lover looking for a challenge we’ve got a corny event for you.

“Third on our list is the CornEvil Haunted Horror Maze where you can expect to be freaked out by chainsaws and evil clowns. If that’s not your thing there’s always the Amazing Maze ‘n Maize Easter egg hunt where you can look for eggs in the giant maze of cornfields. ”
“Number four on our Easter list is to watch the one mile Flying Scotsmen race in kilts at the Te Anau Tartan Festival.”

“There’s a great range of festivals for all tastes. If you enjoy a good fritter, you can go to the Whangarei Fritter festival where restaurants will be competing for the annual fritter trophy. Otherwise you could watch the fire eating and dancing at the Mt Maunganui’s Easter festival.”

“Why not stay near these events, Wotif.co.nz has plenty of accommodation available including holiday rentals, cabins and cottages if you’re after something a bit different this Easter.”
