Celebrity chefs to Cook for Christchurch Intermediate School

Wednesday, 14 August 2013

Duncan Garner, Annabelle White to Cook for Christchurch Intermediate School This Friday

RadioLIVE’s Duncan Garner and New Zealand’s ‘Cuddly Cook’ Annabelle White are taking the RadioLIVE Drive show on the road this Friday, to broadcast LIVE from Branston Intermediate in Hornby, Christchurch, where they will also be feeding the 200 students and teachers.

Branston’s Food & Nutrition teacher, Clint McAuley, entered RadioLIVE’s “Win Annabelle White” competition and did just that.

For three weeks, Duncan Garner asked listeners to write in, telling them why they should win White as their personal chef for a special occasion.

McAuley’s entry spoke of bringing some cheer to the community who are living with the knowledge that their school will close for good at the end of the year.

It struck a chord with Annabelle and Duncan who immediately agreed they’d not only feed the entire school – they would take the show to Hornby and broadcast LIVE from the school grounds.

"I can't wait to get to Christchurch and meet the pupils, family and friends of Branston Intermediate,” says Duncan Garner.

“They've had a tough time so this will be a really positive afternoon - celebrating everything they've achieved.

I'll be broadcasting from the school grounds - I've never done that before - so hopefully I'll have a few young helpers!"

The success of Christchurch and the Canterbury region is vital for the success of New Zealand and the show will focus on this throughout Friday’s broadcast.

Alongside the familiar faces from council and central government, Garner will be speaking with business leaders focused on enticing the best and brightest to work in Canterbury. He’ll talk with those involved in spearheading new initiatives in tourism, education, entertainment and the arts (with a very special announcement from the Director of the Christchurch Art Gallery) and host a political panel featuring two of Canterbury’s ‘finest’ brothers, Guyon and Colin Espiner.
